The fireplace mantle and hearth are the focal point of our living room. It is actually the first thing you see when you enter our home. It is flanked by two large windows with window seats and built in shelves. It is one of my favorite features in our home so, it is no wonder it gets extra attention during the holidays.
I like to use natural elements on the mantle and hearth. The hearth contains the Christmas Crate I shared earlier and a coal shovel brimming with evergreen and pinecones.
I continued the natural theme to the mantle with the use of evergreen and magnolia leaves. The mantle is flanked by two boxwood topiaries with moss bows and in the center of the mantle is the nativity scene.
I was married the Saturday before Christmas. I love the holidays and wanted a Christmas wedding (my poor mother!!). One of my favorite wedding gifts was the nativity scene given to me by one of my mother’s closest friends. It makes an appearance on our mantle every year and serves as a reminder to us all why we celebrate the holiday season. My kids enjoy it as much as I do!
The crowning touch of the mantle is the Della Robbia wreath which I mentioned in an earlier post. I love the look of the wreath and its amazing scent! It breathes Christmas into the entire room! Plus, it is a charitable fundraiser!
The stockings hung with care are from Lands End. Not even my sweet doggies were left out, however they do share! The birdhouse was my first birthday gift as a wife from my husband. Yes, I celebrate my birthday and anniversary in the same month! Can you tell I love December? The entire mantle holds fond memories as well as serving as a focal point during the holidays. It brings warmth to my heart!
I hope you enjoy dressing your mantle and hearth for the holidays!
